Frequently Asked Questions

Why do you seal entry points instead of just spraying?

Spray on a baseboard breaks down in a few weeks of Florida heat and rain, so a spray-only company has to keep coming back. We find where pests actually get in - the gap under the door, the pipe and wire penetrations, the soffit and roofline seams - and seal those first. Then the perimeter treatment we apply has far less work to do and holds through the season. It is slower on the first visit and it is the reason you stop seeing bugs instead of just seeing fewer of them.

How much does pest control cost, and how is it priced?

Our quarterly Shield Home plan starts at $39 a month, Shield Home+ is $59, and Shield Complete is $89, depending on home size and what you need covered. Every plan starts with a free 27-point inspection and a same-day written treatment plan, so you see the price before anything is applied. There are no contracts that lock you in and no surprise trip charges for the re-treats between visits.

What does the free re-treat guarantee actually cover?

If pests come back between your scheduled quarterly visits, we come back and re-treat at no charge - no trip fee, no upsell. Just call us and we are typically back at your door within 48 hours. That guarantee is the whole point of the name: we sealed the entry points and set the perimeter, so if something gets past it, fixing it is on us, not you.

Are the products safe around my kids and pets?

Yes. Our treatments are pet-safe and kid-safe the moment they dry, which is usually under an hour. Your technician is a state-licensed Florida applicator who knows exactly where products should and should not go around a family home, and we lean on targeted baiting and entry-point sealing rather than fogging your living space. If anyone in the house is chemically sensitive, tell your tech and we will adjust the approach.

I think I have termites. What do you do, and is it urgent?

In the Tampa termite belt it is worth taking seriously - subterranean termites work the slab line quietly and a mature colony can do real structural damage before swarmers ever appear. We inspect the slab line, mud tubes, and accessible wood, then either set monitoring or treat depending on what we find. Catching early swarm activity near the slab, before it spreads, is exactly why we check it on every quarterly visit for plan members.

How do you handle German roaches that keep coming back?

Recurring German roaches almost always mean a harborage and an entry point nobody closed - behind the dishwasher, up a plumbing penetration, under the sink. We bait rather than blanket-spray, because spray scatters them and bait reaches the nest, then we find and seal the gap feeding the trail. Most homes see the population collapse within a couple of weeks and stay clear once the entry point is sealed and the perimeter holds.

Can you get rid of rats and wildlife in the attic, not just bugs?

Yes - rodent control and humane wildlife exclusion are part of what we do. Rats ride in through soffit and vent gaps, and raccoons, opossums, and armadillos use the same kinds of openings, especially on Brandon and Riverview's wooded lots. We find those entry points, evict whatever is inside, seal the roofline and vents so they cannot return, and run monitoring stations until the activity actually stops.

Will I get the same technician each time, and is Shield local?

Yes on both. Shield is a Tampa Bay family business owned by Marisol Reyes, not a national call center, and we serve Tampa, Brandon, Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Riverview and the surrounding area. You get the same licensed technician every quarter on purpose - by the second or third visit they already know your property's weak spots and history instead of starting cold every time.
